CAA held a Working Meeting on the topic: “Unmanned Aircraft Operations – New Regulatory Framework”
On 14 December 2024, at House of the Army, the Civil Aviation Agency organized a Working Meeting on the topic: “Unmanned Aircraft Operations – New Regulatory Framework” regarding the Regulation that shall enter into force from 1 January 2025.
It was attended by the Civil Aviation Agency professional and unmanned aircraft operators, as well as citizens concerned about the development of this most technologically advanced branch in the aviation industry.
The Working Meeting between the competent aviation authorities and the unmanned aircraft operators was of an informative, educational and promotional nature, aimed to primarily inform the aviation community, but also to inform the general public regarding the process of transition from the existing regulation into the new regulatory framework under which requirements, more than 400 drones have already been registered and subsequently to harmonizes the national legislation with the EU legislation.
At the auditorium the new Unmanned Aircraft Regulation was presented stating the provisions that it prescribes for the operators and unmanned aircraft pilots, as well as its safety significance in performing operations with unmanned aircraft. Namely, the new regulation introduces a new categorization of operations depending on the risk level, establishing a risk assessment methodology, defining the manner and procedure for obtaining a certificate to operate unmanned aircraft in an open category, laying down the provisions to be met for open, specific and certified category, as well as the particulars for each operation type.
The Regulation additionally outlines the duties and responsibilities of the operator and of the unmanned aircraft pilot, presenting the possibility of unmanned aircraft operator to register on-line in an open category, to perform self-training and to take A1 and A2 exams for unnamed aircraft pilot certificate. Starting next year, the unmanned aircraft operators will have the opportunity to announce flights in real time, as well as to reserve airspace through the CAA application intended for announcing unnamed aircraft flights.
The CAA professional aviation personnel promoted to the attendees the guidelines for strengthening the safety culture and raising the level of awareness when carrying out operations with unmanned aircraft, the benefits, but also about the dangers and risks arising from unnamed aircraft operations.
